After I wrote the first post upon my arrival, I walked with one of my roomies to find food. We ended up at "Imperial" which was the place folks recommended (cheap food). Not to mention, two of the SAS'ers came into the hotel lobby with delicious smelling plates of fish & chips. It was enough to remind me that I hadn't eaten and I needed to fix that problem. It was kinda funny though. The hotel staff came up to them and told them they usually aren't okay with outside food consumed in the front like that but they were nice enough to let them finish. Out back there is a patio, roof top with seating, and a pool. It's nicely lit with christmas lights. Did I also mention there is a talking parrot? I thought it was fake at first, but it is certainly real and he is quite a character!
Anyhow, we wandered into Imperial and looked at the very limited menu. I got "chicken in a bag" after asking what it was. Comical name for "fried half chicken and french fries" haha. Anyhow, with that I ordered a mystic, but I was having trouble seeing the flavor to direct the woman so I said, "the one on the bottom." One of the little boys in the store was standing by me waiting to grab his order and he said, "you talk funny. The one on the bottom" he echoed. Hahahahaha. I was so surprised that all I could do was laugh. We sat and ate with another SAS'er who was very cool. Had lots of laughs and I gotta say, after swapping stories about the feasibility of SAS, one could only be in awe. It takes a lot to apply, get accepted, have no money, but stay determined. We are all proof that when you want something you can have it. Seriously.
When we left, a homeless guy was outside asking for money. Jack offered him some tea. The look on his face was classic. What am I going to do with this? was more or less what he said. How am I going to get hot water was another question. Jack was relentless and simply said, hey, drink it cold. Tea is good for you. haha... At the end of the block we looked back and he was still grumbling but he took the tea. =) Funny indeed. We took a walk towards the docking port to see the ship. Can you say beautiful? No really. The ship is a beauty, and I've never really referred to anything as such. It was difficult to get close to it (obviously) but it was an almost majestic moment haha. Can't believe that because I have work-study, I will be boarding one day earlier than everyone else (on the 11th) and will spend a night on it. We've discussed it on our forum and it should definitely be eerie but a lively experience.
Came back to the hotel, split and went our respective places. Ended up watching iCarly and most recently, food network (love that show!!!! love the fact that I can view it down here even more!!! haha). Dozed off to sleep for a bit until our room phone rang indicating our other roommate (unbeknowest to the front desk of course) was here "visiting." We came out, helped bring her stuff in the room until the front desk called the room saying the "visitor" will have to pay if she is staying haha. So far, we've managed to avoid them... we're hoping it doesn't backfire since the last thing we would need is a full room inspection since there are about 6 of us in total...for the price of two hahaha. Speaking of which, two of the people staying with us left out earlier and now we don't know how to contact them since no one's phones are on. The problem is there is only one key haha, and we aren't planning to be in the room. Although.....I am soooo sleepy, but I feel bad trying to sleep when there is sooo much to do and see here. We saw a few restaurants and bars a little ways ago. Plus since we are in the heart of the Bahamas, there are lots of venues accessible. It is Sunday though so not to much will be open, but we are all eager to get out and explore this beautiful city.
